Mounting a TV on the wall can seem like a monumental task, but a little knowledge and prep work beforehand can help to make it a whole lot less stressful.
TOOLS YOU’LL NEED
TYPES OF MOUNTS
Wall mounts have two main brackets, one you attach to the back of your television and the other you attach to your wall – then you mount them together.
CHOOSING YOUR SPOT
Sit in your favorite chair, look straight ahead at eye level. Ideally, this is where the middle of your TV should be.
MOUNTING YOUR TV
Verify that the mounting holes in the wall bracket line up with the center of the studs. Then follow the mounting directions in the owner’s manual. Ask a friend to help you lift the TV and secure it to the mounted wall bracket.
FINISHING THE JOB
A recessed outlet behind your TV allows electricity to be fed behind the wall and to be a power inlet that connects to an inconspicuous outlet.
